A Journey to Walmart (AKA How I wish Walmart actually was)
During the weekend, I took a trip to Walmart for groceries. I took some photos with my sister during the trip. Here are my Photoshop edits. Here are the original photos: I learned quite a bit from this project. I hadn't messed with Photoshop in a bit, so this was a nice refresher. Because the prompt was a journey, I wasn't sure how to proceed with editing these photos. So, I decided to just have fun and mess around. I put a blue filter on each photo, some I auto toned, and some I just added lines to online the shapes of the objects. With a few photos, I added in other photos with a mask layer. Contemporary Photography vs. the Photographer's Eye Essay
I read the essay The Photographer's Eye by John Szarkowski. Published in 1966, it explained a bit of the history of photography and how it adapted. The essay discussed the vantage point, detail, time, frame, and the thing itself. I'll be honest, it still do not understand what the essay was trying to explain. I was excepting a basic explanation of those topics, not an artistic opinion of them. I had to take photos that demonstrated each topic, although I do not know if I succeeded. Here are my pictures. There are some that I can see what the essay is trying to explain and then there are some others which I'm not too sure about.
